Fertilizer Damage

Many fertilizers contain iron to help plants look green.

Though this can be beneficial to plant life, these same elements can be harmful to concrete and masonry.

Also fertilizers often are acid-base and when potted plants are fertilized the water runoff can leave an etched streak as the water runs out of the bottom.

Fertilizers applied to grass can also etch concrete if the runoff is allowed to cross over a masonry surface.
